25th Christian Fellowship Sports Festival

The 25th Christian Fellowship Sports Festival will take place on 14 June 2008. This yearly sports event is commonly refered to as "YMCA Games" in SFX as it normally takes place in the YMCA grounds in Kuala Lumpur.

The organisers have invited SFX (like they have done in the past years) to participate in this Sports Festival. This will present our athletes with an opportunity to compete against other Christian churches and organisation, having to skip the 2008 KL Archdiocese Goodwill Games.

The games involved are Basketball (Open), Carrom (Mixed Team), Darts (Mixed Team), Street Soccer (Open), Table-Tennis (Mixed Team), Tug-Of-War (Mixed Team) and Volleyball (Mixed Team)

For more information, refer to the 25th CFSF documents below :

Announcement of the Games

Mode of Play

Team managers, please forward your list of players to Gerard by 20th May 2008.

The Athlete's Prayer

I found this beautiful prayer by Gregg Easterbrook. In the absence of such a prayer in SFX, we could use this one :

O God let me play well but fairly.
Let competition make me strong but never hostile.
In this and in all things, guide me to the virtuous path.
If I know victory, grant me happiness;
If I am denied, keep me from envy.
See me not when I am cheered, but when I bend to help my opponent up.
Seal it in my heart that everyone who takes the field with me becomes my brother.
Remind me that sports are just games.
Teach me something that will matter once the games are over.
And if through athletics I set an example – let it be a good one.
