SPORTS MINISTRY OBJECTIVES
-As a fellowship networking programme for the parishioners of SFX.
-As an outreach platform to other communities beyond the church boundary. These communities and individuals can be of other denominations, religions or perhaps "unchurched" or lost/lapsed parishioners. E.g. After making friends - someone may want to ask you more questions about your faith.
-To instill Christian values in the sporting conduct of the Sports Ministry members - where sports will foster high human and spiritual ideals.
- To field sports teams for diocese, inter diocese or outside diocese events representing SFX.

Vatican Support for Sports Ministry
Pope John Paul II, for whom soccer was a passion in his youth, explained that the Church “considers sports as an instrument of education when it fosters high human and spiritual ideals; when it forms youth in an integral way in values such as loyalty, perseverance, friendship solidarity and peace.”
“Surmounting differences of cultures and ideologies, sports offers an ideal occasion for dialogue and understanding among peoples, for building the desired civilisation of love,” the Pope added.
The Holy Father appealed “to put into practice these values, based on the dignity of the human person, in face of possible interests that might darken the nobility of sports itself.”
